Horsemen was, as it turns out, a very personal project for me. Out of all my creations, I have to admit: this one’s my baby. I created it toward the end of my college career as not only a piece of creative fiction, but as a love letter to those people who made me into the person I became. It was a cartoon series, a webcomic, a comic book pitch, and then a webcomic again. TV executives, comic book publishers, web comic creators, and good ol’ fashioned readers have met Sal, Ben, Tim and Keenan. Several times, in fact. Like the Horsemen themselves, it seems I just can’t let them die.

The Four Jackasses of the Apocalypse are four friends who, in spite of themselves, have a really successful friendship. In my life, that’s one of the most important things to me– strong, successful relationships. You’ll note that these four defy death itself to be together, and refuse (whether consciously or unconsciously) to separate, despite the literally Biblical forces working against them. It may seem a bit heavy-handed, but these are some themes that appeal to me.

What we have here are the first two “issues” of Little House Comics’ first venture into the comics biz: Horsemen (The Four Jackasses of the Apocalypse). Mike Lunsford drew, inked, colored, and lettered both issues, and helped shape and define the universe these characters lived in. Both issues are written by me, a fact that either brought you here, or helps you understand why it never got past the second issue, or onto news-stands.
